New Adventures in Fashion

Happy hump day, chickadees!

Although I ADORE vintage, I also am a pretty crafty chick. That being said, I've ventured out into the world of jewelry.

Here are my first pair of leather feather earrings. I made them yesterday, posted them on my Facebook page and sold 2 pairs!I found my inspiration on Etsy and made my own versions.

Neon is HUGE for Spring, so I incorporated some neon colors.

I am now attempting my luck at a couple of necklaces. Here are some pics of the work in progress. I'm still debating on the placement of the pink and gold leaves and whether or not to make them into feathers like the above pic. I will definitely be making another pair of earrings using the pink and gold chevron pattern. The green and gold one will be my person necklace for our St. Patty's Day festivities.

I've been a busy little bee today.  So....what do you think?

WIW - Baby Shower Edition

UPDATE: Just added photo of crochet heart from the baby shower. Thought you'd like to see it.

Hello lovelies!

Yesterday was dedicated to prepping for one of my bestie's daughter's baby shower.

I spent time making little crocheted hearts to adorn the clothespins for one of the games. They turned out cute and we used them to play the "don't say the word BABY" game. At the end, everyone got to take one home as a little souvenir.  Here they are. What do you think?

I got the idea from Cornflower Blue Studio's blog. The tutorial was super simple and didn't take long at all to make them. I love to add a handmade touch to stuff :)

Ok, crafting aside, I did have to get dressed. This is what I wore. It was simple, nothing fancy, but the pink added that much needed pop of color!

Black cuff is Ellen Tracy
Earring are vintage from an estate sale
Necklace is from Macy's
Belt is ? (sorry, I forgot)

Blouse is by Paper Tee
Undershirt is from Ross
Jeans are by Old Navy

Boots are NICOLE brand from Ross. A great STEAL at $7 on clearance!

Vintage bracelets
Buckle one was thrifted
Cuff was a gift from my mom. It's from Peru and was gifted to her in the 70's

Well, there you have it.  I hope you enjoyed it!

Halloween and thrifting

With Halloween coming up and us having our yearly party, my niece asked me to convince my son to be a "T-Bird" from Grease (the original) since she is going to be a pink lady. I was able to convince him. Especially since he has the jeans, converse and white t-shirt.  I thought about going to a thrift store to buy him the jacket, however.....my dilemma is the "T Birds" on the back of it.  I did a search to see if there was such a thing as leather paint. Low and behold there is!! My question is, how do you use it? Just like regular paint?  I need to be able to make it look similar to the pic below

What do you think? Would it be possible? If you have any other suggestions on how to accomplish this look, I'm all ears!

Luau's and tissue flowers

Happy Monday to all!

One of my daily  blogs that I read is Diary of a Crafty Chica.  I was extremely excited about her post today because she has a tutorial on how to make tissue flowers.  Well, I happen to be planning a Luau for the 4th of July weekend and I haven't begun to experiment yet, but I had totally planned on making my own flowers as part of our decor! Low and behold I see her post....YIPPEEEEEE! She made it super easy for me. No research needed! Thanks Kathy!

Beannachtai na Feile Padraig!!! (Happy St. Patrick's Day in Gaelic)

This is one of my favorite days of the year. I  look forward to hanging out with friends and family at our usual spot, Griff's Shenanigans Bar in Montrose.

Each year my friends and I make sure we have the day off to prepare (i know...we're dorks!).  Last night I went above what I usually do and painted my nails..have a look:

you like?

I know it's only 10:00 am but I've been waiting weeks for one of these:

can't wait!

Here's wishing you the best St. Patty's day ever and stay safe out there!

New beginnings

I say new beginnings because my son (who just turned 18 yesterday) will be going off to college in August.  These will be new beginnings for the both of us. He's not your traditional 18 year old. He's an old soul in a teens body.  Funny thing is he realizes and accepts it.  He doesn't have his driver's license yet and is in really no hurry to get it. He rarely goes out. I've told my friends he reminds me of the kid on "Sixteen Candles" where the parents try and force him to go to the dance and he runs out saying "but I just want to be with you guys!".  How times have changed from my days. I couldn't wait to get out of the house to party with my friends.  It's actually comforting knowing that he's safe though.

I've decided to start this blog because of the simple fact that he is leaving and I will need something to take my mind off the fact that he won't be here :)  Besides that, I love to share my ideas for fashion, parties and crafts!

I will also be doing testing and reporting on trendy, stylish and budget friendly products that you may be interested in.  Look out for them!

This is my son. Isn't he handsome? Everyone says he looks like Joe Jonas and he HATES that! I laugh every time!
