Canned Ham Quest

For about 6 months now, I’ve been on a quest for a canned ham trailer, to begin my LLV mobile shop.  How awesome would it be for people to be able to find me at various locations throughout the month, to check out all the lovely vintage items I have to offer?
My idea came from all the street side taco trucks you see all around town. I figured, if they can sell tacos out of a bus/truck, why can’t I sell vintage out of a trailer…a vintage one, at that!
Thus, my quest started. Many months of searching and because of limited resources and inventory out there, I put my idea on hold. Unfortunately, while I thought I was the first one in the world to think about this idea (HA!), I realized that there are quite a few others out there.
Houston has a few fashion trucks popping up and the first vintage one will be unveiled next weekend. I can’t be jealous or mad because it belongs to my vintage selling partner in crime, Vanessa, from Height of Vintage.  She has put blood, sweat and tears into remodeling her trailer and I admire her for it. I am trying to take the easy way out and buy it already complete. Well, with the exception of installing the clothing racks and painting the interior.  I know her unveiling will be a huge success! I’ll keep you posted on it.
Many of you are probably asking yourself, what the hell is a canned ham trailer? Here are some pics of some really cute ones that I’ve found on the interwebs. People actually use these for camping! I am so jealous at the cuteness of their trailers!

I plan on using mine for both, leisurely travel and slinging vintage! It’s the best of both worlds.
So, in a nutshell, that’s the story on my canned ham trailer quest. I have my eye on one that might pan out. Keep your fingers crossed, send positive energy, pray, or whatever else you do, so that it will become mine….soon!  You lovelies will be the first to know what happens.

Ciao bellas!

Pretty Little Things Summer Edition

Every few months or so, my cousin, Vanessa, from Height of Vintage and I put together the Pretty Little Things pop up shop. We absolutely love putting this together.  The last 2 times it was hosted by Boheme Cafe and Bar.  If you're ever in the Houston area, I recommend you stop by. It's a great atmosphere, the people are super friendly and best of all....the frozen mojitos are BOSS! (as my son would say)

The event was great. I alway enjoy meeting new local vintage sellers. It's nice to see so many others with the same passion as I have.

I hope you enjoy the photos! A big thank you to Manson from A Kiss of Romance for the photos. I forgot my camera that day!

Pretty Little Things!
My vintage partner in crime....Vanessa from Height of Vintage and myself

We had all sorts of goodies. This is Amanda from Amanda's Naturals

Have you ever seen so many goodies in one place?

A Kiss of Romance's wonderful selection of vintage

Just finished setting up and ready for the crowds

Great friends and family that come out to support PLT!

The amazingly talented, Jessica! I love this chic!

What I Wore - May 29, 2012

I know...I'm a total slacker when it comes to blog posts. In my defense, I did start a new full time job and have been super busy in training. So much so, that I haven't even been able to list any new items in my Etsy shop. GASP! Not that I don't have a TON of stuff to list, I literally just don't have the time right now.

This time of year is always so busy with events (graduations, Mother's Day, Father's Day, my hubby's birthday and of course, vacation time!).  My weekends are pretty much all booked until the 3rd weekend in July.  So for now, you'll be getting a lot of the what I wore posts :)

I am definitely not complaining by any means though. Life is pretty good right now. I am in a good place with my weight loss too! Hopefully, you'll be able to tell with the pics below.  I've lost a total of 64 lbs. I am ecstatic! I have not been this thin since before I got pregnant with my son....21 years ago!! Not only do I feel better about my self physically, but also mentally.  Although, I still have some adjusting to do when it comes to shopping. I still tend to walk over to the plus sized clothing and pick up a size 16, only to realize...hey DUMMY, you wear a size 9/10 now! (I can't believe those words just came out of my mouth...or out of my keyboard) ;)

This was me at the beginning of December.

Vintage top: thrifted
Shorts: Old Navy

This is me now....what do you think?

Top: Ross
Flower print jeans: Forever 21
Vintage necklace: Passe Nouveau Vintage
Vintage belt: thrifted
Vintage bracelets: estate sale
Vintage doctors bag: Passe Nouveau Vintage
Shoes: Image
Sunglasses: Etsy
Earrings: Forever 21
Please forgive the lack of a hairstyle. I am quite lazy when it comes to my hair.
Have a great week loves!

Mother's Day

A quick post to share my Mother's Day with you all.  I got to spend time with my amazing mother, my son, my dad and my hubby.

We started out the day at breakfast. The food was yummy, but the Bloody Mary was better!

We then spent the rest of the day at my parent's house, sitting out on the patio and enjoying the conversation. It was indeed, the perfect Mother's Day.

I snapped some shots of us...ok, so I forgot about my dad and hubby...whoops!

My son, mom and me

Mother & daughter

My baby is all grown up :'(
I hope you all enjoyed your Mother's Day and it was as special as mine was.

Have a great day loves!

Easter Sunday Pics

I don't do enough pictures of my personal life, so I thought I'd share a couple with you from Easter Sunday. I hope you enjoy!

My friends (clockwise from left, Bridget, Sarah, Michelle and Monica)(I 'm in the middle)

My friend, Monica and me

My friend, Bridget, myself and other friend, Monica

Unfortunately, we did not take pictures BEFORE the mass glitter/confetti attack happened. That's why we're all shiny and full of glitter. This happens every year...and every year I say, I'm going to stop trying to dress cute and wear protective gear to shield myself from the glitter toting children....it NEVER happens.

Overall, we had a great time. I didn't even want to leave that night....a little too much Sangria if you ask me :)

I hope you all had a fantastic Easter weekend.

Shop Feature and Giveaway

I am SUPER pleased to introduce you to my good friend, Brianna Dale. She is the cute, spunky and funny doll from Bre's Baubles Vintage and Baubles, Accoutrements and Garb blog. Please keep reading after interview for the giveaway details!

Let's get to know her a little better...

Q. Tell us a little about yourself
My name is Brianna and I love pretty things! I’m a small town girl with
a big love for Fashion/ Beauty and Interior Design. I work as an Interior
Designer and as the Owner of Baubles, Accoutrements and Garb
Blog and Bres’ Baubles Vintage on Etsy.

I am addicted to thrifting/ treasure hunting and collecting/ selling
vintage. My husband is terrified of my vintage "hoarding". When I see
a Goodwill and ask to stop, I hear a huge sigh roll out! But, that
won't deter me! This is my calling!! I adore lazy Saturdays and love
to spend hours on Facebook and Twitter entering sweeps!

I post a "What I Wore" series on the blog. See images below. I just
started a new series called "Your Style" so that my readers can send
in their looks and be featured. I am looking for volunteers right now
to be featured.

Q. Why vintage?
A. Vintage has always been a part of my dressing up life. I loved to
go to yardsales when I was a child and wear my mom's, grandma's and
aunt's old clothing! I never cared what was "in style" as much as what
was appealing to me. I was always different and always challenging the
rules when it came to fashion and that's why I incorporate so much
vintage into my wardrobe today. Most of the time, I find pieces that
are so unique- I literally won't run into anyone on the street or in
the office wearing the same thing. It makes me look and feel more like
myself.

Q. What is your favorite era and why?
A. My favorite era has ALWAYS been 70's because I have felt that I was
supposed to live during that time. I can see myself - a flower child, dancing
through fields of flowers and braiding hair....hahaha. But, seriously - I love
the prints and colors. The past couple of years, I adore wearing 60s style
vintage. I love the femininity and embracing curves as a woman.

Q. Any advice to newbies starting to collect vintage?
A. My advice would be: 1. Don't grab something just because it's old..
it doesn't mean it's valuable. 2. Collect with your heart. If something is dying for you to take it home- do it!!

Please share 3 of your favorite items in your shop right now:

80's does 50's Blue & White Striped Dress

80's does 50's Blue & White Floral Day Dress

Red & Black Secretary Style Dress
Isn't she the cutest? She's a hoot to talk to and she keeps me company during the day while we both list new items in our Etsy shops. I love my vintie friends!

Ok, now for the giveaway that Brianna is sponsoring. Check out the picture for the many cool things she's putting together for this Spring time giveaway!

Hi loves!

Have you checked out the shop lately? I've added lots of goodies, PLUS added the 50% off section! Lots of people have already taken advantage of it.

60's Gold Polka Dot Heels

60's Black & White Heels

A little background to these lovely shoes.  Do you remember Anna Nicole Smith marrying a older gentleman named J. Howard Marshall?  Well.....these are from his wife previous to Anna Nicole.

My best friend's hubby used to work for J. Howard Marshall (now works for his grandson). They were gifted to my friend and she had forgotten she had them until a couple of weeks ago! I am one lucky lady to have such great friends.

Also, stayed tuned in tomorrow. We're having a Springtime giveaway hosted by our great friend, Bre, from:

Have a great day!

New Adventures in Fashion

Happy hump day, chickadees!

Although I ADORE vintage, I also am a pretty crafty chick. That being said, I've ventured out into the world of jewelry.

Here are my first pair of leather feather earrings. I made them yesterday, posted them on my Facebook page and sold 2 pairs!I found my inspiration on Etsy and made my own versions.

Neon is HUGE for Spring, so I incorporated some neon colors.

I am now attempting my luck at a couple of necklaces. Here are some pics of the work in progress. I'm still debating on the placement of the pink and gold leaves and whether or not to make them into feathers like the above pic. I will definitely be making another pair of earrings using the pink and gold chevron pattern. The green and gold one will be my person necklace for our St. Patty's Day festivities.

I've been a busy little bee today.  So....what do you think?

What I Wore - Valentine's Day Edition

Hello chickadees! I hope your Valentine's Day was magical. We actually celebrated our Vday the past 2 weekends. The weekend before last we went and had massages, then dinner and drinks. This past weekend, we went over to Louisiana to Delta Downs for a little gambling. We had a lot of fun even though we didn't hit any big jack pots :(

Anyhoo, this is the outfit I would have worn, had we gone out. I was supposed to wear it for my Galentine's Day date with my girl friends, but that got canceled. So, I decided to dress up and show you guys anyway.

80's dress from Ruby in the Dust Vintage

Belt is from Ross

40's Feather Hair Comb from Yesterday's Silhouette

Pirate Slouch Boots from JC Penney, Pattern hose from Target

I hope you liked it! As you can see, the 80's still hold a special place in my heart ♥
