What I Wore - May 29, 2012

I know...I'm a total slacker when it comes to blog posts. In my defense, I did start a new full time job and have been super busy in training. So much so, that I haven't even been able to list any new items in my Etsy shop. GASP! Not that I don't have a TON of stuff to list, I literally just don't have the time right now.

This time of year is always so busy with events (graduations, Mother's Day, Father's Day, my hubby's birthday and of course, vacation time!).  My weekends are pretty much all booked until the 3rd weekend in July.  So for now, you'll be getting a lot of the what I wore posts :)

I am definitely not complaining by any means though. Life is pretty good right now. I am in a good place with my weight loss too! Hopefully, you'll be able to tell with the pics below.  I've lost a total of 64 lbs. I am ecstatic! I have not been this thin since before I got pregnant with my son....21 years ago!! Not only do I feel better about my self physically, but also mentally.  Although, I still have some adjusting to do when it comes to shopping. I still tend to walk over to the plus sized clothing and pick up a size 16, only to realize...hey DUMMY, you wear a size 9/10 now! (I can't believe those words just came out of my mouth...or out of my keyboard) ;)

This was me at the beginning of December.

Vintage top: thrifted

This is me now....what do you think?

Please forgive the lack of a hairstyle. I am quite lazy when it comes to my hair.
Have a great week loves!

New Adventures in Fashion

Happy hump day, chickadees!

Although I ADORE vintage, I also am a pretty crafty chick. That being said, I've ventured out into the world of jewelry.

Here are my first pair of leather feather earrings. I made them yesterday, posted them on my Facebook page and sold 2 pairs!I found my inspiration on Etsy and made my own versions.

Neon is HUGE for Spring, so I incorporated some neon colors.

I am now attempting my luck at a couple of necklaces. Here are some pics of the work in progress. I'm still debating on the placement of the pink and gold leaves and whether or not to make them into feathers like the above pic. I will definitely be making another pair of earrings using the pink and gold chevron pattern. The green and gold one will be my person necklace for our St. Patty's Day festivities.

I've been a busy little bee today.  So....what do you think?

Feature Friday

It's time to pick one of our many favs and feature it here on our lil ol' blog.

This weeks pick comes from Sally Jane Vintage. While curating our Oh My Stripes treasury, we found this ADORABLE red and white chevron dress. I swoon over it! Unfortunately, I am no where close to being a XS-S :( so I thought I'd share with you all.

Her shop is so freaking cute too! It's nice and organized (note to self: organize our Etsy shop to look like this). It makes for some great shopping (did I mention, it's super affordable too) I didn't find anything in her store that I didn't like.

It would look so cute with some red wedges (that I just happen to own).  Seriously, why can't I be a size XS-S?  Ok, moving on....Accessorized with some red and/or white bangles (bakelite perhaps?) YES!  Topped off with some cute, white cat eye sunglasses! Oh hell, let me just go ahead and show you what I mean:

via Vintage Bang Bang  (I just love their name too!)

via Oh Vera

via Blue Berry Deluxe

It's still hot out there (well, here in Houston it is) so this cute little ensemble would be perfect!

Ok, so I featured a few more things today, but who's counting? I hope you enjoyed todays post and visit the shops featured.  They really so have some great items!

Have a great vintage weekend!

Celebrate March Wearing Green

March 17 is St. Patrick’s Day......do you have your Lucky Green ensemble ready to show off????  There will be lots of St. Patrick’s Day events going on all around so for those of you who are in the warmer states, this beautiful green 1960’s spring dress is perfect for enjoying the festivities!  The color is effervescent !
1960's Mod Dress

The dress shown below is a bit more reserved yet the color and pattern tastefully publicize a fun and vibrant persona.  This 1960’s checkered dress is perfect for the office or elegant dinner setting.
1960's Green Checked Dress

If you aren’t into the full spirit of the Irish then perhaps the classic Givenchy choker shown below will entice you into wearing green for the day.  It’s also a perfect vintage birthstone emblem!  Green is also the color for saving the earth!
1980's Emerald Givenchy Choker
Still not convinced to wear green for the day??? Well, if for no other reason, wear green for peace of mind!  According to color psychology, “Green is the pervasive color in the natural world ….. greens are seen as tranquil and refreshing…..Green is considered the color of peace and ecology.”
Lovelies, in the spirit of green I hope you all have peace and harmony in your everyday lives!

Chic Red White and Blue

Happy President’s Day to all you Lovelies!  In honor of this American holiday I am presenting vintage red, white, and blue.  This electrifying vintage ensemble is stylish and patriotic!  I would encourage anyone to show off their American spirit….dazzle those around you with the life this dress symbolizes!!!  Remember the Fourth of July is just a few months away Lovelies!!

60's Red White and Blue Dress

Polka dots are fun!  This red and white polka dot dress is eye-catching and the pearls are so First Lady like.  Reveal your exuberance in a sophisticated kind of way !
60s Red Polka Dot Dress
The two piece dress below is an 80’s style.  It reminds me of the 80’s soap opera, Dynasty actress Linda Evans because of its attached shoulder pads.  I was always an admirer of Linda Evans because of her ability to adorn her wardrobe in spite of her height and broad shoulders.  To all the tall broad shouldered Lovelies out there, you can also stride in style!
80s Red and White Skirt Set
Accessorize any of these outfits or one of your own with these fabulous jewels and handbags.
80s Nautical Necklace Set

80's 3 Strand Necklace

Whatever vintage piece you opt for Lovelies just remember to own it as our model did in the photo below!  You can pull off anything with a little imagination!!!
Happy President’s Day Lovelies!!!

My friend Tarsha is wearing  a vintage "tie" necklace. It's a stunning piece. She was my first customer! Thanks so much Tarsha!  Way to work the vintage! ;)

Etsy showcase

My friends have been asking me how my Etsy store is doing. I keep saying, it's ok, but not the results I want.  Today, I decided to look into showcasing my items.  I figure it's worth a shot. The most I will lose is $7.

I clicked on the "purchase showcase listing" and the earliest they have is for Sunday, May 16th! It looks like these spots get sold out fairly quickly. I'm taking that as a good sign. Perhaps just having the spotlight on my store for 1 day will generate a lot of traffic to my store and will result in lots of sales! ;-)

In the meantime, I have a lot more to add this week so that when my store is showcased, I will have more to sell. It's just so time consuming to take pics, upload pics, list the items, describe them, measure them, etc.  That's why  it takes me a few days to put a couple of items on there.  I'm not complaining, it's just that  I've had people ask me if that's all I have on my store.  I have to explain to them that there's more coming, it just takes a little time.

Well, wish me luck.  I will let you all know how the showcase goes.  I have a few friends on Etsy and I'm sure they could benefit from this too, if it works.  I'll definitely let you know fellow Etsy sellers!

The Key To My Heart

Shanalogic is by far one of my favorite trendy, punk, indie type shops.  I love the fact that the store supports small indie businesses.

I have to share my new favorite item:

I have my heart set on you ;-)

I've always said I love love. In fact, I call my husband "Love".  I am the biggest believer in forever love, romantic fairy tales and happily ever after.  SO...anything that has to do with a heart or love,  I.....yep, you guessed it....LOVE!

In addition to loving love, I think supporting small businesses is fantastic. Being a small business owner may have something to do with that :)

I'm hoping to buy this soon and take a pic so you can see me with it on! (hint, hint, Love) (I guess I should tell you my hubs follows my blog)  ;-)

Here's the link to the item if you're interested in purchasing it for yourself:

Etsy

Before opening my vintage accessory store, I had no idea of the existence of Etsy. WOW! I was definitely missing out!  They have the most amazing sellers on there. I love to read the spotlight on the different sellers they have.  It's amazing to hear about their stories. It's so inspiring to hear about people who work for corporate America during the day and start their own little business on the side just selling items they either love to make or find at estate sales or garage sales.  This one lady did that and her store just took off! She was able to quit her day job and work from home doing what she loves.  I hope to accomplish sales like hers. Mine has started off slowly and hasn't generated enough income to make up my previous full time job, but I am grateful for my hubby allowing me the opportunity to quit my job while being with my son his last year at home.

Etsy allows you to discover so many talented people in the world too.  I've browsed through a lot of jewelry and I am impressed at the creativity of some people.

Check out my Etsy store online now for some great deals!
